| | Laila Ansbergs and Lisa BarnesAs you all know, Laila (left in picture) designs all the images so she often has card designs in mind when she's drawing the pictures and designing the matching backing papers. So when it comes to making cards, Laila often has an idea of what will look best.
" I like coming up with new card shapes and designs that add a new twist such as the heart-shaped card for the wedding couple and the rocking card for the baby images which you can see in the gallery.
At the moment I'm really into decorating backing papers with pens as it's amazing how easy it is to create a completely different look but surprisingly easily. You can bring a whole new dimension to the backing papers and they end up looking really intricate and pretty. I wish I had time to make more, but coming up with new designs and running the business takes up all my time! I'm delighted that we have some new card designers who enjoy making cards, as you get lots of different looks to give everyone inspiration."
Lisa likes using the die cuts and papers to create simple but effective cards. I've always liked producing cards which look really tasteful but dont have too much on them. I'm definitely a 'less is more' kind of person. That's why I love using Laila's designs because they look so tasteful. Having said that, I am into the holographic glitter at the moment - as adding a bit of sparkle can make a truly special card."
  | | Nikki BowmanI am 30 something stay at home Mum to two mostly great children! I have been making cards for over 4 yrs, when I started I thought it would be a great way to save money and have fun at the same time....well I was right on one count! I do have lots of fun!
I stopped work when I had my daughter 9 yrs ago and just this year have become a Freelance designer for 3 cardmaking magazines and now for Lili of the Valley. At least it pays for the stash I keep buying ,not in profit yet though.
I love to make cards with clean lines and a modern feel but I can turn my hand to almost any technique (although the ones which take ages are not really my favourites...I have no patience!) I think my favourite technique has to be stamping at the moment and I love colouring using pencils or watercolour pencils depending on the effect I want to achieve.
| | Katina KilleyI've lived in Liverpool all my life, except for a short time, as a child, when I lived in Athens where my Dad was from. I'm married (to Dave) with three grown up children (Andrew, Rachel and David) and a lovely little granddaughter called Molly who's 3 years old. I have another grandchild on the way (due December) and I'm very excited about that.
I went to university as a mature student and studied Sociology and English before taking my teaching qualification. I've been a primary school teacher for 12 years and first got into making cards, about 5 years ago, after a friend took me to a card making class to cheer me up after I'd been ill. I've been hooked ever since!
| | Kim FeeI have been cardmaking for about 7 yrs now. I love all things papercraft and stamping, I have won several competitions, and have been lucky enough to win the title of Simplycards and papercrafts Cardmaker of the year 2007/8. And runner up for Papercrafter of the Year.
I design for Simply Cards & Papercraft, Papercrafts Essentials, Complete Cardmaking handbook, Cards & Crafts for Christmas, Craftworkcards Recipes and I teach and demo for Craftsulove... And of course I now design cards for Lili of the Valley!
